Pocklington RUFC step up their pre-season preparations when they travel to the North East on Saturday (10 August) to play in the six team Alnwick 15-a-side tournament.

Pocklington's players are meeting at 8am and play the host club Alnwick at 1.00 pm in the first of three 20 minute each way games. Most of the players are camping overnight at the rugby club then heading back to Pocklington on Sunday.

Pocklington director of rugby, Tony Penn, looked forward to both the Alnwick trip and the forthcoming campaign, saying: "After putting in the work on the training field it will be good to get some match action."

He continued: "What's to been really encouraging has been the numbers and attitude of the Colts that have come down recently. Some good young players stepped up in the later stages of last season, and it's been refreshing that the next group of Colts have followed them over the summer.  If we can keep them all together the future looks bright."

There will be Tuesday training as usual next week (13 August) but the second session of next week will switch from Thursday to Friday (16 August). The Friday training session will start at 6.30 pm at Percy Road and will be followed by a social get together at the club, including food. In conjunction with this the back bar will be open from 4.00pm as a new regular Friday afternoon and early evening club night.

All players are welcome to train at 6.30, including those who have not yet been down to pre-season, and all club members and supporters are invited to come down to the club from any time from 4.00 onwards.
