In a fixture list packed with local derbies and old rivals, Pocklington make their only trip into the unknown on Saturday when they travel to newly promoted Consett in north-west Durham for the first ever game between the clubs. Pocklington have threequarter Josh Britton returning after a tweaked a hamstring against Bridlington, while Toby Stephenson steps up from the bench for Will Sayer. The bus for players and supporters leaves at 11 am. THe Panthers are at Doncaster and Pilgrims go to Rowntrees.
After two opening bonus point derby wins, Pocklington led the North 1 East table for just 24 hours at the weekend before the North Division authorities belatedly applied a five point deduction held over from last season.
When Easter Saturday 2018 was declared a catch up league Saturday at short notice it was identified as the date for Pocklington's postponed game with Harrogate.
Pocklington informed the league authorities they would be unable to fufill the fixture on that day due to prior commitments, which included the Pock 7s and a first team player's wedding. The game was played four weeks later; but the league can choose to whether to apply sanctions for the current or following season, and informed Pocklington their points deduction would be held over to the 2018-19 campaign
The club felt this was unfair, especially as Bridlington had postponed their rearranged game with Malton & Norton a fortnight earlier and had their points deducted straightaway, but Pocklington's appeal was not allowed and so the five points were taken off this week, dropping Pocklington down the table from first to eighth.
On Sunday morning the Pocklington minis are training, but there is a full programme of junior games against Doncaster, new players welcome at all levels. The U14s and U16s are at home to Doncaster (11am) and U15s go to Doncaster (11am) and Colts to Huddersfield (1pm).
